What a great interview. Insightful questions and generous answers.

"There’s no such thing as talent. Everyone who’s “talented” learned their craft one way or another." - That feels like such an exhale to me.

I read an anthology of humor pieces recently and it had interviews with some of the authors and I felt deflated when so many said something along the lines of "Oh, it just flowed. I wrote it in 15 minutes" (and it went viral and now it's published in a book!) - and yeah, good for them, but ugh.

Maybe they were blessed by the comedy angels and the piece was channeled, and came out as the perfect first draft. But I would have loved to have have known - how long have you been doing this? What other things weren't hits? Are you an overnight sensation decades in the making?

As a newbie - I am so appreciative when people share struggles, lessons, and the bumps on the road - not just the wins. And reassurance that if you're finding it challenging you're not a loser, you're learning.
